Mulmur is perhaps the most beautiful of
Dufferin's townships. Renowned for its natural beauty and scenic hills, it is an
area of rolling hills, views and vistas, rivers and streams. provincial parks, including the Pine and Boyne River systems, Bruce
Trail, and the Niagara Escarpment. Downhill skiing, cross country skiing, golf, horse back
riding and miles of walking trails are all easily accessible. In Mulmur you can
still find affordable properties with space and privacy for weekend, retirement, or
commuting to the city 5 days a week.
Yet Mulmur is accessible to Brampton, Mississauga and the GTA. Toronto
International Airport is just 60 minutes to the south, directly down Airport Road.
Once clear of the 401 there are few traffic jams, and the cares of the city start to fall
off your shoulders as you drive home to your Mulmur property.
The area provides excellent hospitals, schools, shopping and
entertainment facilities in Shelburne (Hwys 10, 24 and 89), in Orangeville to the south,
and in Alliston to the east.
Mulmur and Mono are dominated by the Nottawasaga river system, which has its
headwaters in Melancthon. Two of the Nottawasaga's tributaries, the Pine River and the
Boyne River, rise west of the Niagara Escarpment and flow in an easterly direction.
Dufferin County is called "Headwaters Country" with good reason - 5 major river
systems, the Nottawasage, Grand, Credit, Humber and Saugeen River Systems all have their
headwaters in Dufferin. The Mulmur Hills present a dramatic natural feature, particularly
during the time of the fall colours.
