Minutes north of Highway 9 in Adjala township, is a gracious renovated and
restored farmhouse in the French tradition with windows and doors from MQ in
Quebec which specialize in les fenêtres
de Old Montreal with their antique
and
reproduction antique hand forged iron hardware. The authenticity of all
the finishings from the century hand hewn barn beams on the ceiling to the
refurbished century wood floors and stone fireplace is reminiscent of an old
European French farmhouse. From the cedar shake roof to the copper eavestroughs and weathervane with antique church bell and coachlight, it
all says quality and style. The addition is in a pale blue board and batten
and connects to the original farmhouse through a passageway from the kitchen
into the fabulous dining and family room to the upper loft. The kitchen was
revamped in 2007 with its milky ivory cupboards, marble countertop and
centre island. Beautiful stained glass windows are set into doors and
windows to add to the era it is emulating. A church pew doubles as a railing
in the loft. Hand painted Portuguese tiles and chandeliers grace the home.
Wherever the eye travels, it picks up on the exquisite details in this
charming home. The barn is likely to impress any who comes to visit. With
its four large stalls in solid ash, oversized wash stall with hot water and
2 infra red heat lamps, heated ceramic floors in the office/studio and tack
room, it’s a place you can spend the entire day in.
On the level where all the hay is stored (The Bank Barn) is another fabulous
large room that was framed inside the barn, heated and insulated to provide
another studio space for the current owner. 4 paddocks, an Olympic sized
sand ring and run in sheds on this 20 acre parcel all await the next owners
to enjoy this unique property. The property is gently rolling with mature
century trees, areas to sit and nestle in and watch the horses at play.
