If you are seeking out somewhere to crash on the weekends and not face a
terrible long drive stuck in traffic, it awaits you here. For years the
current owners have done just such a thing and enjoyed it in all 4 seasons
witnessing the incredible beauty of the colours of fall, the stunning
serenity of winter and of course the gorgeous lush greens of summer.
Situated on a very private one acre lot overlooking a huge pond and
ornamental waterfall, it feels much more than
that. Park-like in its setting with enormous trees screening the road, a
quaint screened gazebo with chandelier for summer dining, small dock over
the water and a perfect lawn area with century old willows, it has charm in
abundance. The open area just west of the house and guest Bunkie begs to
invite a croquet, badminton or bocce ball match. The 4 season insulated
cottage is charming with its Board and Batten siding, more recently replaced
metal roof, and huge picture windows overlooking the pond. The living and
dining rooms are open to each other and share the enjoyment of the
woodburning fireplace. The kitchen is sweetly decorated in the soft yellow
and blues of Matisse’s favorite pallet of colours. A U-shaped counter is
beautifully situated to prepare meals while never been cut off from the
views of this gracious lot. A guest Bunkie has more recently been
reburbished inside with its own 3 piece bathroom – this would also make a
wonderful studio/workshop writer’s den. There is
at the one end of the Bunkie an added bonus of an insulated workshop/storage
space for all the garden equipment, tools and outside furniture of summer. A
detached garage is located at the east end of the property. In short, this
is an enchanting package with loads to offer for those seeking a sweet
retreat. |
