One hour to Toronto and less to the GTA, Alliston was amalgamated
with Beeton, Tecumseth and Tottenham in 1991 and the total population is
over 20,000 at this time. Alliston is just 64 km. northwest of Toronto and
is a bedroom community as it is so accessible for commuters. Originally an
agricultural community (potato growing country) it is now a family oriented
town as well as a retirement community most visible in the nearby
Nottawasaga Briar Hill development with its attached golf course and
recreation complex. On the easterly edge of the town of Alliston is this
